ICP-OES

The Prodigy is a truly simultaneous inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometer designed without compromise. Each component has been engineered for performance and reliability.

Optics
The heart of any spectrometer is its optical system. Prodigy offers a temperature controlled solid cast aluminum optical enclosure for unmatched stability. To enhance stability further Prodigy is the first ICP to treat the plasma source as an optical component mounting it directly to the spectrometer, not the instrument chassis. It has a 800 mm focal length that cuts stray light to 1/4th the level of other commercially available ICPs. Prodigy’s larger mirrors and high dispersion optics capture more light for improved sensitivity and lower detection limits. The source mirror optimizes the plasma image automatically for each view.

L-Pad, shown above far right, has 4x the active area of competitive detectors taking advantge of Prodigy’s very high disperson.

Detector
Prodigy’s L-PAD, Large format Programmable Array Detector, not only provides the widest wavelength coverage (165-1100 nm) (134-1100 with Prodigy's Halogen Option) but it also provides false simultaneous measurements. Peak and background measurements, internal standards and inter-element corrections for all elements occur at exactly the same time with identical integration duration. L-PAD consists of more than one million individual pixels, each in-pixel processing to eliminate saturation and expand the analytical dynamic range.

RF Supply
The Prodigy and all other Teledyne Leeman Labs ICPs are equipped with water-cooled RF supplies. This design results in extremely long lived performance. The RF supply can deliver up to two kilowatts at 40.68MHz to excite even the most difficult sample matrices.

Options
The Prodigy offers a choice of sample introduction systems to match sample types and solvents. The Prodigy autosampler has the capability to handle as many as 120 samples as well as multiple standards and quality control checks.
