The Z-2000 atomic absorption spectrometer has an automated eight lamp self-aligning lamp turret. Because of its excellent light throughput, electrodeless discharge lamps are never needed.
Both flame and furnace atomizers are factory-aligned and permanently mounted. Only flame height is adjustable.
Left is a schematic design of the Z-2000 optics. With two photomultiplier tubes and fixed magnets, total signal and background only signal can be acquired simultaneously eliminating flicker noise and transient signal errors.
With its built-in autosampler, re-alignment of the furnace and autosampler are eliminated. Access to the cuvette is never impeded by the autosampler location. Software positions the syringe probe over the injection port for alignment. During analysis the diameter of the cuvette is compensated automatically.
